Amico Dance Academy
Terms & Conditions

CUSTOMER INFORMATION
As a parent or guardian, it is your responsibility to:
-
Notify us of any medical conditions that your child has.
-
Ensure that all medications for your child are brought along to classes.
-
Ensure that your emergency contact details are up to date.
As teachers, we aim to make our classes available to all. Therefore, we ask that you let us know if your child needs any additional support, before booking a class or trial, so we can discuss their needs. Please note we cannot provide one-to-one support.
Information is only shared with staff at Amico Dance Academy (ADA) and only when necessary to ensure student welfare and well-being.
FREE TRIAL
-
If your child is attending our classes for the first time, they are entitled to one free trial class.
-
A registration form must be completed for each student before the trial class.
-
Free trials are available at the discretion of ADA and a free trial may not be repeated later, should you choose not to sign up initially.
-
Your child can try a different class at our school as per these terms and conditions.
TERM FEES
-
Invoices are issued by email, and you will be notified of new term payments around two weeks before the new term starts.
-
All term fees must be paid in full, before the first class of term and are non-refundable.
-
If your child joins part way through a term, we will charge a pro-rata term fee, following their free trial. This must be paid by the next class to allow the student to continue to participate.
-
Invoices should be paid by bank transfer or online banking. Please use your child’s name as the reference.
-
If term fees have not been paid, the student will not be allowed to join the class.
-
Fees are subject to review and change at the beginning of the year.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
-
If you cancel your child’s class before the new term begins, you will receive a full refund for your term payments.
-
If your child misses a class, we do not offer refunds or makeup classes.
-
In the case of long-term illness, we will ask for a doctor’s note and provide you with a pro- rata refund.
-
If we, ADA, need to rearrange a class due to staff sickness, health epidemic, venue maintenance issue or any other unforeseen circumstance, we will re- arrange this session*.
-
On the rare occasion that a class may be cancelled, the charge will be credited to the next term’s fees.
*This session may take place on a different day/date, or at a different venue. We will write to you with the details.
ATTENDANCE
-
A responsible parent or guardian must contact us if your child cannot attend a class for any reason.
-
If your child doesn’t attend a class for four consecutive weeks without any contact from a parent or guardian, we have the right to remove them from the class list.

EXAMS AND EXAM FEES
-
We regularly hold exam sessions and will keep you informed when your child is being considered for entry. While we believe that dance exams can be a valuable part of a student’s learning experience, we also understand that not everyone may wish to take them, so these are optional and there is no obligation.
-
Exam fees must be paid before the exam closing date and are non-refundable.
-
If a student cannot take their exam due to illness, a doctor’s letter is required to obtain a refund.
-
For BTDA Exams this would be a 90% refund of the exam fee OR a transfer to the next exam session.
-

HEALTH & SAFETY
-
At ADA we are committed to lifelong learning and all teaching staff are registered members of professional dance associations. As such, we refine our skills and knowledge by regularly completing Continued Professional Development.
-
All teachers hold full, enhanced DBS checks and regularly attend First Aid training as well as Safeguarding and Child Protection training.
-
Students are expected to dress appropriately for their class and wear the correct uniform and footwear.
-
Students will not be permitted to take part in a class if the teacher feels that their dress is unsuitable or may cause injury.
-
Jewellery (including watches), which the teacher feels is unsuitable or may cause injury, must be removed or the student will not be permitted to participate in the class.
-
We ask that parents of students under the age of 7 remain outside the venue during lesson time.
-
Please inform the teacher of any injuries before the class starts.
-
Dance and acrobatics, by their very nature, require support and direction from teachers. Where appropriate, physical contact may be used by teaching staff to assist learning or reduce the risk of injury. All teaching staff hold full and current DBS checks. If any student is uncomfortable with an element of this support, please let us know straight away.
-
ADA are not responsible for children once their class has finished, or between classes, so please ensure all children are collected promptly.

CONDUCT
-
Students are expected to always demonstrate respectful behaviour towards their teacher and fellow students.
-
Students are not permitted to leave the studio during a class without permission from the teacher.
-
Students are responsible for their own property and bring items at their own risk.

-
Amico Dance Academy is affiliated with bbodance (formerly known as the British Ballet Organisation) and British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA), where all exams taken are accredited by the Council of Dance Education and Training (CDET).
-
